The Team

Malaptop is run by a committee of volunteers who meet once a month. We are keen to here from other people who would like to get involved, particularly if you have experience with computing, marketing or logistics. For more information on joining the activity committee click here.

Simon Cleary – Director & Trustee

I came up with the idea for Malaptop when helping friends fix laptops at University. I was surprised how much I could do with the Ubuntu operating system. I had worked in Malawi in 2009 and realised that all the computers we could save in Scotland using Ubuntu could really help schools in Malawi. I have recently graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a degree in Mathematics & Economics and now work for an economics development company in Edinburgh as a researcher.

My role in Malaptop is to ensure everything runs smoothly and find new ways to bring in donations.
