After five years of operation, we have decided to wind up Malaptop this year. Thank you very much for your support over the years, with your help we have been able to send over 150 laptops to schools in Malawi and give thousands of school pupils the opportunity to learn basic ICT skills.
The decision to wind up Malaptop has not been taken lightly. One reason that we are disbanding is that the Turing Trust now operates within Malawi and have a much greater ability to reach the objectives that Malaptop set itself in 2012. We have been collaborating closely with them since 2013 and in 2014 we encouraged them to also consider working with schools in Malawi, in addition to their main focus of Ghana. Since then, they have made Malawi their number one priority country and have sent thousands of computers to schools there. We will continue to support them after Malaptop is closed and look forward to what we can achieve.
Simon will still take laptop donations, which will be donated through the Turing Trust and sent to schools in Malawi.
